Major changes are expected in the updated central contracts for the Pakistani cricketers as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has determined the performances of the players on behalf of last year’s performance. A few cricketers are likely to get promoted to upper categories while new players will be entering the lists accordingly.
As per the reliable update, the chief executive officer Wasim Khan, chief selector Mohammad Wasim, head coach Misbah ul Haq, and Director International Zakir Khan will be holding a meeting in this regard after Pakistan vs Zimbabwe will be winded up
What changes are expected in central contracts for Pakistan?
Notably, the current contracts will expire by 30th June. According to the sources, Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf, and Usman Qadir are likely to enter the contracts whereas, Usman Shinwari and Iftikhar Ahmed could be demoted this time.
Shan Masood, Haris Sohail, and Abid Ali, following inconsistencies in their performances, might be demoted. On the other hand, Haris Rauf, Mohammas Hasnain, and Fakhar Zaman could be promoted to C, C, and B categories sequentially.
In the lastly announced contracts, Mohammad Hafeez rejected an offer for being a patriot. However, the PCB is considering reoffering. Fawad Alam, who waited for a decade to prove his worth, was included in Category C and is likely to be promoted to the B category on behalf of his recent performances.
Azhar Ali is reportedly demoted to B category from A as he remains part of Test Cricket only. Imran Butt and Zahid Mehmood might be considered as well.
