Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistani fast bowler, has revealed shocking truths of his playing era. Coming forward in support of Mohammad Amir, he says that such talks usually take place in the management.
Elaborating further, Akhtar says that only mentally strong players can bear criticism and harassment. Amir, who has bid farewell to international cricket after suffering a hostile environment and mental torture, is highly disappointed by the national board (PCB).
Shoaib believes that every player suffers criticism but Amir can shut the mouth of critics with his majestic performances.
“Ultimately you have to face it yourself, bear it yourself, you have to confront the fears, confront the management. Amir should work on his performance,” he advised Amir.
“If you hand Amir to me, you will see him bowl at 150+ km/h. You’ll see him have muscle mass, you’ll see him with pace,” the former bowler added saying that he can handle Amir better once handed under him.
Also, Shoaib Akhtar added a public message on Twitter asking not to waste this talent.
Notably, Amir had to stay away from cricket for as many as five years after he was involved in a fixing scandal with Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif. Back in 2019, the player was subjected to criticism as he quit red-ball cricket presenting the reason as ‘to focus more on shorter-format.’
