Fawad Alam is a name of dedication, consistency, and faith in Pakistan Cricket. Lad’s decade and more got crushed but he kept scoring until the PCB’s era management then was inspired to select him.
A flashback to his career:
He had played three test matches in his career as his debut came against Sri Lanka in 2007. The terrific batter had slammed 250 runs in 6 with a ton and averaging 41.66 – before being selected again in the current times, he lastly played his test against New Zealand scoring 34 runs in 2009.
Later, he was seen nowhere – a talent that got diminished from internationals. He did not lose grip and kept smashing hundreds in his domestic career. By grace, Fawad has over 12000 first-class runs.
PCB finally favors Fawad Alam on its long-term cricket plans
Finally, his booming batting got noticed when he was recalled to the international squad in August 2019. One cannot expect a player to go for massive scores straight after missing international fields for over 11 years.
Despite being in the squad, he was not part of the playing XI. Later, all the thanks go to Misbah who trusted and selected Fawad against England either. Fawad featured in the third Eng vs Pak Test but the game was abandoned amidst weather. He did what he could do in the first innings and remained not out in second.
Destiny brought him once again in the squad as Misbah’s last task was to announce the Pakistan squad against New Zealand before sacking as the selector of PCB. Fawad did not spear the bowlers and declared his second test hundred although Pakistan lost their encounters in NZ’s backyard.
He slammed his third century as Pakistan played their first test against South Africa. Notably, it was Fawad’s first century at home. He became the only player with three test centuries in all decades in 2021. He slammed fifty thrice and all the times, these fifties were turned to hundreds by Fawad magnificently.
Fawad Alam moves to Category C of PCB’s central contract list:
The hard work has paid off as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed the Central Contract List 2020-21. Fawad has been elevated to Category C of PCB from the Domestic A+ category.
Hafeez once again turned down PCB:
Other than that, Mohammad Hafeez, the sensational all-rounder was also offered Category C but he politely turned it down. Mohammad Rizwan, who is the current top-scorer in Tests from Pakistan in 2021, has been promoted to category A from Category B.
