Pakistan Lock Horns with New Zealand in Another High Voltage Encounter:
After a huge win against arch rivals India, the Men in Green now shift their focus to the Black Caps. The rivalry between Pakistan and New Zealand has grown a lot since New Zealand decided to abandon their tour of Pakistan amid fake security threats. The tensions kept on rising between the two countries. While Kiwi skipper thinks that their is no extra pressure on them at all, the fans in Pakistan expect their side to defeat the Kiwis in the same fashion that they did to India.
The fans are obviously still disappointed and angry after their tour cancellation and hence they wish that their side come out victorious by a huge margin today. Their is indeed a lot of history between New Zealand and Pakistan. The last time these two teams faced each other in T20Is in UAE, Pakistan whitewashed the Kiwis 3-0 in the T20I series. Riding high on confidence after defeating India and being much familiar with the conditions, Pakistan will surely begin as favourites in this game. For New Zealand to win, they will have to get either Babar Azam or Rizwan or both of them out as soon as possible. Both the batsmen have had a phenomenal run so far this year in T20I Cricket and both of them are the pillars of Pakistan’s batting. The spin attack of both teams is well stacked. Pakistan will face the challenge of the ever accurate, Mitchell Santner and then Todd Astle and Ish Sodhi will also play a key role in supporting Santner. Pakistan had some good signs with Shadab Khan bowling well, while Imad’s accuracy and the veteran experience of Hafeez becomes a nightmare for any batting attack. The match will be played at Sharjah, where yesterday the Afghan spinners picked 9 wickets of the Scottish side. So spin will indeed play a big role in this encounter. Both teams have a well balanced pace attack as well as batting lineup, so a close contest is expected.
Overall both teams have faced each other in 24 T20Is with Pakistan winning 14 of them while rest of the 10 were won by the Kiwis. Pakistan are definitely ahead of the Kiwis in overall record, and they also have the edge in World T20 encounters.
Key Players to Watch Out for:
Pakistan: Babar Azam, M Rizwan, Imad Wasim and Haris Rauf
New Zealand: Kane Williamson, M Santner, Trent Boult and Devon Conway
