Muhammad Huraira Inspires Northern to Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Win:
After ending up as runners up in 2021 and 2019, the Northern Cricket Association have finally won the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in 2022. They did it by defeating Sindh in the final quite comprehensively. It was a great collective effort from Northern throughout the event.
At Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, Sindh were bowled out for 284 in their first innings. Muhammad Musa and Aamer Jamal picked 3 wickets each for Northern in the first innings. Fawad Alam and Asif Mehmood scored half centuries for Sindh.
The carnage began when Northern came out to bat. With a double century by Muhammad Huraira and centuries by Umar Amin and Umar Waheed, Northern piled up 593 runs on the board. Moreover, Rohail Nazir also contributed brilliantly with his 94. Muhammad Umar and Aliyan Mehmood managed 4 wickets each.
Beginning the 2nd innings, Sindh had a deficit of 309 runs. They had a terrible start as they were 17/4 thanks to some brilliant bowling by Aamer Jamal. Fawad Alam fought back for Sindh with a hundred, while Aliyan Mehmood and Muhammad Umar also contributed with the bat, but the runs required were just too much to ask for. Northern won the final with a massive margin of an innings and 55 runs.
The stars of the final for Northern were Muhammad Huraira, Aamer Jamal, Umar Amin, Umar Waheed and Rohail Nazir. Sindh felt the absence of Sarfaraz Ahmed, Abrar Ahmed and Saud Shakeel as they were unavailable due to National duty.
