The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the squads for the Pakistan tour of England and the West Indies on Friday. To avoid social media pressure and criticism on the selection as usual from the Pakistani cricket fans, Mohammad Wasim, the chief selector has justified the selections via his statements.
In a press conference, he explained the selections of Azam Khan, Haris Sohail, Imad Wasim, and Wasim along with determining the omitting of Waqas Mqasood and Usman Salahuddin.

Notably, there has been a lot of queries on choosing Azam Khan, son of Moin Khan considering his weight. However, he has maintained his weight visibly since his presence in the last edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Wasim added that although fitness is crucial for an athlete the PCB is evaluating the mid factor between fitness and talent.
“We are trying to create a balance between skill and fitness. Fitness is important but you have to gage few things. Azam Khan is improving his fitness and goals have been set for him but viewing the need of the team, Azam was preferred,”
Imad Wasim, the potent all-rounder was far away from the men in the green squad for a perpetual tenure. Making a revival, the joyful fans can be distinguished on social media platforms along with the critics. To explain why Imad has been added to the T20I squad, the PCB’s sector added that,
“Scenario has changed behind Imad’s return. If you look at, the coming tour[s] are important but the events after that, including ICC T20 World Cup which will potentially host by UAE. Imad’s record there has been outstanding.”
The domestic players, Usman Salahuddin and Waqas Maqsood have once again been opted out for the West Indies and England tours. In their synopsis, Wasim spoke,
“Our Test team is quite settled and the others before them are lined up. They are still waiting for their turn. We have marked replacement and preferences will be given to those who have performed,”
Discussing the triumphs in the last six ODI series, Wasim reckoned that the team lacks a few prominent areas in mid-order that can be solved by appending the players like Haris Sohail.
“We have won six series in a row but still there are weaker areas. It was highlighted that we are facing problems in middle-order. Haris Sohail has reclaimed the required fitness standards which is why we have made changes to strengthen that area,”
