The preparations for the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2021) are underway. With the HBL PSL draft being done, every six franchise has revealed its squad along with the schedule being out.
The current title defenders, Karachi Kings’ squad is one of the bests among the sixes. Consequently, the former Pakistani head coach Mickey Arthur believes that the Imad-led side can retain the title this season as well.
Choosing some of the big names from the cricketing fraternity, Kings have gotten Babar Azam, Colin Ingram, Shajeel Khan, Chadwick Walton, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Nabi, along with the rising domestic talent.
Karachi Kings squad review and analysis: PSL 2021
Here is the Kings team:
- Platinum: Babar Azam, Colin Ingram, Mohammad Amir
- Diamond: Mohammad Nabi, Dan Christian, Imad Wasim
- Gold: Sharjeel Khan, Aamer Yamin, Chadwick Walton
- Silver: Waqas Maqsood, Joe Clarke, Mohammad Ilyas, Zeeshan Malik, Danish Aziz
- Supplementary: Noor Ahmad
- Emerging: Arshad Iqbal, Qasim Akram
Reviewing the last game red-blue men played, they won the match sparing five wickets, however, a few of the players were unavailable. The batters did not blister much except the consistent Babar Azam but the bowling remained full-strength with Waqas Maqsood, Arshad Iqbal, and Umaid Asif picking two wickets each along with Imad’s contribution with one. Amir and Iftikhar remained wicketless but they can turn on the show as Amir and Iftikhar are known for bowling and all-rounding respectively.
Analyzing the overall strength, the team will miss the services of Umer Khan, Usama Mir, Mohammad Rizwan, Liam Plunkett, Alex Hales, Ali Khan, Dan Lawrence, Cameron Delport, and Chris Jordan. However, they still can tender the magnificence of Babar who is always outstanding with the bat, Amir who produces splendidness with the bowl, Chadwick who is energetic as a wicketkeeping mid-order batter, Sharjeel Khan who is a terrific opener.
Imad himself is an economical bowler and is often known to play well with the bat. On the other hand, as KK have imported Colin Ingram from ISLU, they have a major card to take a grip over others. The deliverance of the domestically hired players is yet to witness.
