The fourteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) has finally been suspended shortly after multiple demands of the citizens and people from across the globe.
Seeking India’s poor health conditions where thousands or people have already been subjected to death along with over a million COVID-19 cases, the BCCI had no left but to call the event off despite unwillingness.
The Indian cricket board never wanted to shut the doors of the IPL no matter what but the immense criticism and multiple COVID cases hitting the camp forced BCCI to cancel the tournament.
Yesterday, it was announced that no further matches will be rescheduled after the KKR vs RCB encounter was rescheduled due to the COVID cases spotted. But, the alarming situation has finally put a full stop in front of the IPL 2021.
IPL 2021 cancels, When will it resume?
In order to not to lose any money, the board is now seeking a new window to recommence the league. It is speculated that the event might begin in September, a month before the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
“Now we have to look for a window. If we get one, we will explore holding it. We’ll have to see if it is possible in September. We need to examine the plans of the ICC and other boards.” the chairman of the IPL says.
It is pertinent to mention here that the league is down and dusted with 29 matches and the remaining 31 encounters will be organized in September.
“A September window is being considered. By then the England-India series would be over and the foreign player would be ready for the T20 World Cup. That small window is being explored,” says one of the officials.
