I Wish to Feature in Domestic Cricket of Pakistan as well as PSL: Kashif Ali

Kashif Ali’s Exclusive Interview:

The hero of Kashmir Premier League, Kashif Ali joined Talk Shawk of Cricket Holic for an exclusive interview reflecting on his heroics in the Kashmir Premier League and what are his thoughts for playing Pakistan’s domestic cricket. In a question regarding that how he came all the way from UK to feature in the Kashmir Premier League. Kashif revealed that he started playing hard ball cricket at the age of 15. He revealed that he was a fast bowler at first, but due to some injuries he shifted his focus towards batting and started scoring runs with the bat.

From UK to Kashmir:

Kashif then revealed that he used to play local tournaments in Lahore. During the KPL trials, Kashif was in Pakistan. “Mirpur was a few hours away from my village of Kotli in Azad Kashmir. I went there for trials and I was then picked after I batted in the nets. Then during the draft Rawalakot Hawks selected me”, Kashif added. The right handed batsman also admitted that he watched the drafts live and when he heard the name of Shahid Afridi and other senior cricketers, and with them his name was picked, his dream became successful of playing alongside such high level cricketers.

On a question regarding his career in UK and playing for MCC, Kashif Ali revealed that he played for MCC Young Cricketers and Lords was his home ground. Kashif featured in an MCC XI match against Nepal. Kashif was picked from MCC Young Cricketer into the MCC XI and he played with players like Misbah-Ul-Haq, Yasir Shah, Mahela Jayawardene. “This game boosted my confidence and I learnt a lot. I saw how these superstars play Cricket”, Kashif added.

Kashif scored a hundred in the inaugural season of KPL during run chase situation. He recalled his century saying that my first half century boosted my confidence in this tournament. Then in the Semi Final, Kashif smashed a hundred. “I just kept on looking at the scorecard and kept scoring the runs. I wanted to play till the end and win the game for my side”, Kashif stated. He further added that he didn’t even know that he completed his Century. He just had his mind on winning the game, and not on his personal milestone.

Feelings on Winning KPL:

Kashif also performed well in the all important final scoring a fifty in the crucial stage. He proved to be the ultimate match winner for Rawalakot Hawks. “I tried to play all the overs, play till the end and then get my team to a big score”, Kashif stated. He also credited the bowlers for doing well in the all important final. “We celebrated enthusiastically. Everyone was very happy after the final and even in the hotel, we had dinner together and it was a great feeling”, Kashif added regarding the celebrations on winning the event.

In a question regarding what Kashif learnt from Shahid Afridi, Kashif revealed that Shahid Afridi is a great pressure handler. “His captaincy was a big plus for us. We won difficult matches due to his great captaincy skills”, Kashif appreciated his captaincy skills.

Wish to feature in Pakistan Cricket:

Kashif also expressed his will to play Domestic Cricket in Pakistan. He said that he has no particular choice, he will play for whatever team he is offered for in any tournament of Pakistan. Kashif also expressed his availability for the Pakistan Super League and wanted to be a part of the country’s premier T20 tournament. At last, Kashif revealed that he follows Shoaib Malik a lot and he is his ideal player and he watches a lot of videos of Shoaib Malik’s batting.
