The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed the central contracts for men Pakistani players for the calendar year 2021-22. The list shocks everyone on witnessing many deserving players being out of it whereas, a few induced whilst considering the performances.
The seniors, Asad Shafiq, Imad Wasim, and Mohammad Abbas are excluded from the central contracts 2021-22 whereas the youngsters, Haider Ali and Naseem Shah also have failed to make their places this time.
Hasan Ali, the renowned pacer has made a marvelous comeback latterly hence, has been included back in the contract list – that too in category A alongside the skipper Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Faheem Ashraf (category B), Mohammad Nawaz and Nauman Ali (category C), Usman Qadir, Imran Butt, and Shahnawaz Dahani (emerging category), have also been given new contracts this year. However, Shan Masood, Iftikhar Ahmed, Haris Sohail, and Usman Shinwari have lost their vacancies in the new contracts.

Notably, Fawad Alam was induced in Category C in February on behalf of his bombastic shows in red-ball extravaganza after his insertion in the squad. As of now, he has been promoted to Category B. The Test senior, Azhar Ali, has been demoted to Category B whereas, Sarfaraz Ahmed has retained his spot.
Announcing the salaries for all the players in four distinctive categories, the PCB added,
- 25 percent increase in Category A retainer; no increase in Test, ODI, and T20I match fee
- 25 percent increase in Category B retainer; Test match fee increased by 15 percent, ODI match fee increased by 20 percent, and T20I match fee increased by 25 percent
- 25 percent increase in Category C retainer; 34 percent increase in Test match fee, 50 percent increase in ODI match fee, 67 percent increase in T20I match fee
- 15 percent increase in Emerging Category retainer; 34 percent increase in Test match fee, 50 percent increase in ODI match fee, 67 percent increase in T20I match fee

It is pertinent to mention here that the per match fee for Pakistani cricketers of all categories will remain the same – PKR 7 lacs, 4.5 lacs, and 3 lacs respectively for Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.
