Babar Azam, the lately chosen skipper of the Pakistan Cricket Team, has reportedly been ‘highly’ disappointed by Pakistan T20 World Cup 2021 squad.
According to reports, Azam, despite wanting a few players of his choice to be in the crew and pulling out a few, was sidelined while finalizing the Wt20 squad.
The reliable sources are hinting that the captain wanted Sharjeel Khan, Usman Qadir, Fakhar Zaman, and Faheem Ashraf in the squad but the players were dropped despite his ‘want’.
Also, Babar was against the idea of adding Sohaib Maqsood and Azam Khan to the crew but he was told to focus on his game rather than having his say in the selection.
Reports speculate that Ramiz Raja, most likely to be PCB chairman, has overpowered the board implementing his policies even before taking over the chair. He told Babar that,
Focus on game, not on selection, Ramiz Raja tells Babar Azam
You should focus on the field rather than deciding who should be in the squad and who should not.
The statement has hit Babar’s sentiments as he reportedly is taking it to social media through his sources (indirectly). Also, it is notable, that he was earlier disappointed by PCB for not considering his opinion while selecting the squad members.
A few days ago, Raja reportedly met Babar and told that “I want results”. It is also said that the new PCB management forced Misbah ul Haq and Waqar Younus to retire from their respective spots as they were not happy with the squad like the team’s captain.
