The return of Fawad Alam a year back was something debatable as the cricketing fraternity highlighted Fawad’s comeback after a decade in international cricket.

The red-ball player, despite gleaming domestic stats and a sound start in Test cricket, was sidelined for over a decade for no absolute reason but did not lose hopes.

Fawad kept on working in the domestic arena building up notable records. His self-belief hot-rod him to the national fold as soon as Misbah ul Haq took over the selector’s seat.

After being selected in the Test crew vs England after 10 years, missing 88 Tests, the player marked show with a 0. One cannot anticipate a star to perform straight away after missing the international fields for over a decade.

Later, settling in a befitting way, Fawad shut his critics with accomplishments in a year. Since his comeback, he has gathered 4 hundreds within a span of 12 months. (Total: 5 hundreds)

Undoubtedly, he has gathered a vast fan following line-up in missing years. Every time he scores big, the devotees bloom up saying that the wasted 10 years cannot be returned.

However, Fawad believes that these years were never wasted. In an interview with Cricket Pakistan, he told he has been on the climax in the domestic circuit that is already one of the biggest achievements.

“Being a Muslim, you should be thankful to Allah in all circumstances. If you take domestic cricket for the last 10 or 11 years, I am in the top 20 in the world. I think Allah has given me a lot, I have so many centuries and runs at such a high average in domestic cricket.

I have so many records in domestic cricket. I am on second after Hanif Mohammad in most statistics. How can I say that the last 10 to 11 years of my life were wasted? Allah has given me so many records during this time and I should be grateful for that,

He believes it is because of getting years-long practice in domestic that he is able to implement the tactics internationally.  Fawad said he would not have been capable to execute radiantly for the national side if the decade did not yonder.

Maybe if I was in the national side in the past, I might not have achieved everything I eventually did. Whatever Allah does for someone is good. We also pray to Allah to give us thing that are good for us and I think this was really good for me,”
