BalochistanMatch 3 – Sindh def Southern Punjab by 5 wickets:
Day 2 of National T20 Cup 2021 kicked off with Sindh taking on Southern Punjab. With the fire power possessed by both sides, it was guaranteed that this game would be a high scoring game and it was.
Sindh won the toss and decided to bowl first, and they regretted the decision. Zeeshan Ashraf took on the charge and smashed the Sindh bowlers all around the park during the PowerPlay. Southern Punjab went with all out attack approach and it worked for them. Khushdil Shah, Azam Khan, Sohaib Maqsood all went to the middle and smacked the ball as hard as they could. The Carnage wasn’t over for Sindh as Aamer Yamin was waiting for his turn. In at 6, Aamer Yamin smashed 43(26) and was the top scorer of the innings. It was due to Yamin’s innings that Southern Punjab ended their innings at 175/7. Mohammad Hasnain managed 2 wickets but he gave away 40 runs.
The chase didn’t begin smoothly for Sindh as they lost early wickets. Sindh were 33/2 in the sixth over and were badly lagging behind the required run rate. Khurram Manzoor was the lone warrior who was keeping the hopes of Sindh fans alive. Khurram Manzoor scored nearly half of the runs from the total target and ended his innings at 84(49). Anwar Ali did the rest of the job and did what he is famous for. Anwar Ali went berserk and smoked 29(9)* as Sindh won with 4 balls to spare. This was the first instance that Sindh defeated Southern Punjab in National T20 Cup history. Khurram Manzoor was awarded Man of the Match for his brilliant half century.
Match 4 – Central Punjab def Balochistan by 2 wickets
The second game of the day was between Central Punjab and Balochistan. Both teams needed a win as they both were defeated in their first games. Balochistan repeated what they did in the first game. They were asked to bat first today and their top order didn’t work. Balochistan were 91/6 at one point, but once again a rescue mission happened between Kashif Bhatti and Umaid Asif that powered Balochistan to 142/7. Umaid Asif smashed 32(18) and was the top scorer of the innings. Usman Qadir was the best bowler of this innings with 4/25 in his 4 overs.
Central Punjab didn’t begin the chase convincingly as they lost Kamran Akmal early. Babar Azam kept fighting but he never got the support from the other end. No batsman except Babar Azam in the top 6 could even cross 15 runs. Babar Azam had a wonderful outing as he scored 59 runs.
Hasan Ali provided some support with his 24 runs at the end. The game was heading towards a crunch finish. With 19 runs left in the final 2 overs with 2 wickets in hand, the game was still hanging in balance for both sides. Junaid Khan bowled the 19th over of the 2nd innings and choked big time. Junaid Khan bowled 2 huge no balls in this game and that did cost Balochistan the game. Wahab Riaz took full advantage of the free hits and the equation was eased up from 19 off 12 to 2 off 7 balls. Central Punjab won the game with an over to spare and Junaid Khan proved to be the villain for Balochistan.
