Babar Azam Creates More Records | Surpasses Rohit Sharma:
Pakistan’s unbeaten run in the ICC World T20 2021 continued after the men in green defeated Scotland in their final group match. The highlight of the game was of course Shoaib Malik’s brilliant fifty, but Babar Azam once again created some new records. Following are some of the major record that Babar Azam created after scoring yet another fifty:
Most T20I Fifties:
Babar Azam now has 24 half centuries in T20I Cricket. He overtook Rohit Sharma to become the batsman with 2nd Most number of fifties in the format. Babar Azam now only lags behind Virat Kohli who has 29 fifties in this format.
Most Fifties in a Single World T20 Edition:
Babar Azam struck his 4th half century of the tournament yesterday. 4 half centuries in 5 games is unreal consistency. Babar Azam equalled the record of Virat Kohli and Matthew Hayden for most half centuries in a single World T20 edition. Babar Azam still has the Semi Final game left, he can surely overtake Hayden and Kohli.
Most World T20 Wins as Pakistan Captain:
Not many Pakistan captains have had success in the World T20 event. Babar Azam won his fifth consecutive game yesterday as captain which makes him the Pakistani captain with most consecutive World T20 Wins. Earlier the record was held by Younis Khan with 4 consecutive wins. Babar Azam also holds the record for second most number of wins as Pakistan captain in World T20. He’s only behind Mohammad Hafeez who won 6 World T20 games. Although Hafeez captained Pakistan twice in World T20 events, Babar has came close to the record after just captaining the side in one edition.
