The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released the umpiring panel for the two-match Test and the three-match T20I series against South Africa. Notably, the well-known Pakistan umpire, Aleem Dar is all set to officiate his first-ever test match in Pakistan.

Along with him, Javed Malik and Ahsan Raza will be making test debuts as the umpire as the duo has officiated in 37 ODIs and 57 T20Is, 10 ODIs and 6 T20Is respectively.

Javed is hired for playing the match control for the two tests whereas, Rashid Riaz and Asif Yaqoob will be working as the third and fourth umpires in the tests.

It is to be noted that Aleem Dar has waited for 132 Tests to finally get a chance officiating a red-ball game in his backyard.

Aleem Dar: “It will definitely be an emotional moment for me to umpire in a Test involving Pakistan. It has been nearly a 17-year and 132-Test wait, but its about to be over. Like the players, the match officials also want to umpire in matches on home ground, something we achieve in white-ball cricket, but Test cricket remains the pinnacle format and I am delighted that I will be standing in the two Tests between two excellent sides.”

On the other hand, Javed Malik will be holding the match referee’s post for a three-match t20I series whereas, Aleem and Ahsan will remain the on-field umpires along with Shoazab Raza as the TV umpire.

“For the three-match T20I series, Javed Malik will continue to be the match referee, while Aleem and Ahsan Raza will be the on-field umpires for the first match with Shozab Raza in the TV umpire’s box and Asif Yaqoob as the fourth umpire.

Clearing the further duties, the PCB added that Shoazab and Asif Yaqoob will be binding the powers in the 2nd T20I with Ahsan and Rashid Riaz as the third and fourth umpires. Aleem and Rashid in the third T20I will be the on-field umpires with Ahsan and Shozab as the third and fourth umpires.

Shozab Raza and Asif Yaqoob will stand in the second T20I with Ahsan Raza and Rashid Riaz as third and fourth umpires, respectively, while Aleem Dar and Rashid Riaz will be the on-field umpires for the third T20I with Ahsan Raza and Shozab Raza as third and fourth umpires, respectively.” says PCB in a press release.
